What has people experience been with the importance of the number of links to your site, vs. a well developed site with a theme. Also, what has your experience been with themes. I have seen sites that deliberately have about 100 hidden pages especially for the purpose of creating a theme. The themes on my sites are usually around 10-20 pages. -------------------------KeithChristian Online Shopping Mall - Christian shopping online storeA well developed theme site will get a lot of people linking to it so it'll do well. But the most important for ranking on Google is links coming in.Thank you verymuch for your response. Speeking of links ponpots I dont think you can have more than 2 links from your sign. The sig links don't show up as backlinks.I've noticed that beyond PR and backlinks that the size of a site...how many pages it has in the index...can make a difference. Look at this...very spammy: "http://www.ladnb.com/oregon_ranch_brokers.htm"They show up #4 in a search I compete for. I have an entire section of my site dedicated to the topic. The site above only has one page...but their site is 27,000+ pages...mostly just like the one above. All they do is change the title and some h1 tagged text...add a few links scraped from the SE's and they have a new page...no links to it other than internal and not very optimized content.Got this in a news letter today: "In simplest terms PR is calculated by the sharing of PR from all the IBL links to your page. This is not strictly accurate because Google also uses the internal links within a site in the calculation of PR. Each link to a page carries with it and passes PR value to the target page. The PR points or value passed depend on the PR value of the page they come from, and the total outbound links from the page. It is generally agreed that a page will only pass about 85% of its value to the page it links to. So a PR5 page with a single outbound link will pass 85% of the value of a PR5 page to the page it links to."so to go with the post 2 above - If internal links are counted towards PR then that would back up the big site theory...provided the site were constructed so that all the pages were well linked to each otherJust some supporting links for phaugh comments:The reason for this "PageRank Explained" paperhttp://www.webworkshop.net/pagerank.htmlThe Anatomy of a Large-Scale Hypertextual Web Search Enginehttp://www-db.stanford.edu/~backrub/google.htmlHere's the rest of the article from above: http://www.compar.com/infopool/articles ... ation.htmlTool for estimating PR passed from a link: http://www.thinkbling.com/prcalc/You can also download an .xls file from the article link above so you can fine tune the PR calculation variables.
