How do i hide my source code?Hi emiliana,
Look at the first sticky thread in this forum.
<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.webdeveloper.com/forum/showthread.php?t=89947The">http://www.webdeveloper.com/forum/showt ... t=89947The</a><!-- m --> only way to hide your HTML and CSS source is to not put it on the web. Web browsers need to be able to read it to be able to display and it is trivial to ask a browser to display the source it is using to display the page by adding a Javascript bookmarklet or user script to the browser that displays the source that the browser is currently using rather than that supplied by the author (which may be encrypted).Yeah. Can't be done in HTML.
Justy out of interest, why do you want to hide the code?Yeah. Can't be done in HTML.Just to be pedantic, you can't do it at all.
[Just] out of interest, why do you want to hide the code?Because he is such a l33t h4xx0r of HTML that it would compromise the entire web design industry if any old developer were capable of copying portions of his really ingenious and high quality code, I suppose.
Clearly, him being so very l33t is why he feels above standard uses of the English language such as where us mere mortals put our capital letters and full stops. You can tell absolute l33t!tud3 like this when users only start threads about really advanced h4kking and would never think of posting something that could be researched extremely easily.Just to be pedantic, you can't do it at all.

Now, now... be nice, Tree. Aww, do I have to be? It's not like were sincerely expecting this poster to come back, let alone become a regular contributor. So can't we have just a little bit of fun? pwitty pwease?Yeah come on. Fairs fair. The only way people can find out if a question is silly is through everyone telling hime something isn't possible. But for a n00b (1 4/\/\ h4xx0r k1|\|G - I jest, I jest) no question is a silly question. I asked a million questions when I was starting out and will probably ask a million more. (none of which I would consider top be stupid unless it's something I should really know by now)Aww, do I have to be? hee hee!
You have to give them points for not placing "newbie needing help" in the subject, so it's totally not a lost cause. As Dopple said, the only way people find out things is by asking. As Dopple said, the only way people find out things is by asking.I'm not 100% sure about that. We do have sticky posts for a reason don't we? I realise that it is a bit much to expect anyone to be using the search function but when "How to Hide your Source Code!" is written right in front of you, is it really too much to expect for them to read that before rushing towards the New Thread button?Yeah, the moderators discuss this issue all the time. We've done everything possible except bang people over the head with this information.
There are always people who would walk right by something without noticing it; I'd guess this situation would be similar. I suppose it is a sticky. ach well. Newbies eh? What can you do with them.I would propose making the New Thread button less appealing and shiny, if it were plain text then it would only be as obvious as the sticky posts (which could, I suppose, be made more blatant). Maybe that would discourage reckless posting a bit. Maybe.Maybe that would discourage reckless posting a bit. Maybe.
Doubtfull. It's always gonna happen. Just like evolution, or the flying spaghetti monster (<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.venganza.org/">http://www.venganza.org/</a><!-- m -->)./ Unstoppable.i love the fly spehgetti monster (even though i can't sepll it) what if you changed the new thread so that it is below the stickied posts?I'm sorry nebriv but I have to inform you, I've seen your posts in a few places and it really is starting to bother me....the quote is "I reject YOUR reality and substitute my own".....
And even more interestingly...its originally from the movie The Dungeon Master....whaddayaknow?
<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adam_SavageThere">http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adam_SavageThere</a><!-- m --> are a huge number of sites out there making money off these newbies by selling them programs to encrypt their page source. I have seen such programs sell for as much as $200. At least the better ones come with a money back guarantee so that the newbie can ask for their money back once they discover that it is impossible to encrypt a web page so that your visitor can't view the source without also encrypting it in a way that the web browser can't read either.
The code to produce a one click decryption of any web page is way simpler than the code these predators create to "encrypt" the newbies pages for them.yeah AJ i know... i keep forgetin to change it thanks...I jsut got a PM saying that too lol thanks
