No Follow tags

I have an article that I would like to reference for my readers/customers (that is also an article of mine).

I am thinking of adding a "no-follow" tag as I am happy with the Google and other search results to both web sites.
Currently I have the second article (the one I would like to add a convenience link to) with links coming in to the first web page and I prefer to keep as many one way links as possible, especially since the first site (the one I am considering a "no follow" tag to the second) is competing for a tough couple of key words ("UV bulb" and UV bulbs") which I am doing well, but it is a constant battle to stay at the top for these and I do not want to hurt my SEO with this link.

Since I am a bit wordy her, I will try and sum up my question:
(1) Would I be better off adding this link and thus allowing a two link?
(2) Is the "no follow" tag a better way to go (I have read that Google frowns on the use of no-follow tags, but I cannot remember the source of where I read this)
(3) Of coarse the 3rd option is no link at all, but I would like to provide this information to potential customers via this information link.

Thanks in advance. I will try to answer all of your questions.

1. Yes add the link to your website. If you think the information you are linking to will help your visitors then it is a good idea to add the link. Always do what you think will make your website more helpful for visitors.

2. I am not sure where you read Google does not like the no follow tag this is not true. Matt Cutts and Jason Shellen of Blogger.com came up with the no follow tag to prevent comment spam. The no follow tag is a way for webmasters to link to a website they do not trust without passing any link juice or trust.

I am going to pull a question and answer from matt cutts blog discussing the hoarding of page rank:
Quote: Q: Okay, but doesn’t this encourage me to link out less? Should I turn off comments on my blog?

A: I wouldn’t recommend closing comments in an attempt to “hoard” your PageRank. In the same way that Google trusts sites less when they link to spammy sites or bad neighborhoods, parts of our system encourage links to good sites. Here is a link to the full post:

3. It is a good idea either link to your articles or provide them on your site if they will help your visitors. You number one goal should be visitor satisfaction if the people coming to your site find it helpful they will be much more likely to buy your products and link to you. Thanks for the reply.

I have read this thread from Matt Cutts, which added to my confusion as to whether this could be viewed as "black hat" SEO (from another article I read a while back), since this is not meant to control comment spam, rather to contain one way PR.

This quote from the Matt Cutts post is where I am unclear:
Quote: I would use nofollow are when you can
