I'm starting a new referal system on my forum where users will be able to receive free banner advertising if they refer a certain amount of new members. My concern is that some of their sites may not be related to my sites content and also they may be a shady site to link to depending on their SEO techniques, etc. My question is, by adding the NoFollow tag to a link - will google ignore the link and not penalize me ?rel="nofollow"I read this article (http://www.researchbuzz.org/the_nofollo ... etc_.shtml) and think I'm fine, but I'd like to confirm this. Thanks Ugh! This new rel=nofollow tag is going to be a nightmare when exchanging links...now we have to view the source code to see if it's being used to block the outgoing links....or would te link still be indexed as a backlink but just not followed....?If you want to stop the bots from folowing all of the links on the page you can use the meta tag <noindex, nofollow>. but that would also hide your internal links.....which you probably don't want to do..more here on that: http://www.searchengineworld.com/metatag/robots.htmbbott1982 wrote:
