New domain or use subdomains?

I'm currently in the process of consolidating and refining my web seo strategy. I currently own mayurtv.com, mayur.ca, mayurj.com, mayurjobanputra.com and they are all seperate sites showcasing some of my skills and abilities.

I want to create a central hub to showcase my various skills but I want all of these to be seperate sites/designs:
Wordpress Development and EngineeringAdvice to SMB on Web StrategyOnline Video CreationMy Personal/Professional CVMy Portfolio of workTech BlogTestimonials from customers
Question: Should I create seperate sites like this?

MayuronTech.ca
MayuronWordpress.ca
MayuronWebStrategy.ca
MayurCV.ca
MayurPortfolio.ca

Or should I stick with a single domain name instead like this and use subdomains instead like this?

TechBlog.mayur.ca
CV.mayur.ca
Wordpress.mayur.ca
WebStrategy.mayur.ca
VideoBlog.mayur.ca
Portfolio.mayur.ca

Regardless of which strategy you suggest, I'm going to design a single header banner that spans across all sites so that users can go from site to site easily.

Why am I doing this? Cause I have a lot of different skills and abilities and I have never found a way to link them all together into a cohesive site. I find that my SEO get's too diluted when I mention all the skills I have and try to get Google ranking for them. Forgot to mention, my primary aim is to rank well on search engines for all of the above sites specific to each skill. So for example of someone searches for "Vancouver Wordpress" I want the Wordpress services site to show up preferably. i suggest the subdomain method

or you could use the directory way like

mayur.ca/blog
mayur.ca/portfolio

for seo stuff it would be better to go with the one and pimp out the meta/content/links. especially since each individual page no matter where it is will have its own pr. But in terms of traffic rankings it would also be better to use one domain since all traffic to any of its directory's or subs will count as traffic for mayur.ca anyhow. plus its cheaper/simpler to manage. Ya, that's an idea I hadn't considered

What does this mean, pimp out. Can you explain?

OK, so Google likes single domains even if the site as a whole talks about a lot of different things? Each of the areas I plan to launch would have their own design, etc. and that's OK for seo too?

New question: So should I have a single RSS feed for each of the subfolders as you suggest, or should the entire site be seen under a single rss feed? I had assumed when thinking about my original post that smaller sites with more focused content are better than a big site with lots of different content. Could I still rank high on Google for the narrow set of keywords I want to rank well for?

Thanks so much for the reply!! by 'pimp out' i meant that the stuff on the page should match the site/domain/niche its under.

in terms of design it doesn't matter if they are different per page, only important bit in terms of seo would be valid html and not too many if any iframes.

and according to the types of sites/pages you mentioned, you may want to use a single feed since that content is pretty similar. if you had a bunch of categories or users then multiple feeds would be a suggestion. and yes you can rank high for a given set of keywords for whatever pages/sites, just use them consistently and tastefully. Perhaps this article written by our Admin would help you decide which is the right approach for your situation: Domain vs. Subdomain I can see that some of the categories are similar, but I would eventually make this site a hub for my other online activities like my hobbies (snooker), and other areas of interest (life coaching, personal development), etc.

I think I'm going to go with the subdomain method and then combine the feeds if I see a good reason to do that when the categories are similar. I would hardly recommend you the subdomain method like the way fooini said, for me it seems to be the best method of all! And I have done it this way too with one of my projects and it worked well...Google loves my subdomains xD Ya, well given that I'm doing seperate sites, pages, but also at the same time linking them together, I like the subdomain method as well. It let's me focus on specific topics and not have a personal blog flooded with a hundred different topics which I know doesn't rank well (unless you have thousands of pages) The subdomain strategy isn't what I would try in this case. If you're looking at ranking for your particular geographical area, consider all the local factors that will come to play.

You could have a single domain and simply use categories as stubs to your skills you want to highlight.

Perhaps instead of trying to match skills with subdomains / categories, perhaps you should consider your services & focus entirely on local search parameters to rank for those. Have a consildated site about "you" and drive traffic to that?

I'm a little uncertain as to what exactly your overall intent is. Thanks Barry for the comment. My intentions are:

1. To blog/discuss Online Marketing for business owners
2. To blog/discuss Tech and Programming with web designers
3. To blog/discuss Snooker ideas and information with snooker players and fans
4. To show my updated CV
5. To have a fairly complete online portfolio
6. Not have any of the ideas above dilute the single domain/site they are shown on

In the past I have tried to use a single domain to do everything but it doesn't work because my various interests conflict on a single site (snooker and personal development don't go with online marketing). I want to use seperate domains/sites or some combination as recommended here so I can keep each site seperated and isolated. It would be great if I could use a single parent domain and have each of the above on seperate sub domains. I assume from the comments here that each of these would contribute towards the PR/ranking for the parent domain (so for example the Tech blog doesn't compete with the Video blog on similar content).

At the same time, I also want to link all the sites together (even with just headers or sidebar links) and to use a single design theme on all the sites (fonts, layout, etc) so that end users see a consistent UI.

Some of my "sites" are custom developed pages (like the CV), and others would be off the shelf Wordpress themes (like video blogging, tech blog, etc). The Testimonials would be a single page probably, while the Portfolio might end up being launched via Secretary CMS
