new asp.net technologies for highly performant apps

I need to create a new web app, I am asp.net developer, but in the last 2 years I have been mostly developing in sharepoint.While I try to read blog posts from gurus sometimes I dont have the time, and I would like to know what are the trending frameworks, libraries to use right now.Lets suppose that my web app will be for about 10,000 users, maybe 250 maximum at the same time.This is what I have found so far:[*]SignalR, Creates a persistent connection between server and browserto push notifications. [*]Knockout.js TO create highly resposive UIs[*]Should I use asp.net forms 4.5 or mvc 4? 4.Entity framework 5. (I have experience with EF 4.3 and I like it a lot) 5.MVVM???Am I missing something here that I should use? I just want to learn the latest trending frameworks while I develop this new application.Any help is appreciated
