I am trying to install .NET SDK Beta2 on NT4 server with SP 6a. I tried to install MDAC 2.7 beforehand. Although it installed OK it stopped halfway through saying that some files were in use by system resources so I would have to rerun setup. This I did a number of times with the same message. I then installed the SDK, which went OK. The .NET service (or whatever the name) in Services cannot be started. In the event log it says that the file cannot be found, but does not say which file! Any ideas?It does not sounds like MDAC installed right at all, you should uninstall the SDK, and MDAC if you can. Then restart the system and stop all IIS services and any other applicable services and try installing it again.Thanks for the suggestion. I tried installing MDAC on another machine, after IE5.5 and sp6a, and this time it installed OK. I then installed the SDK, which also went OK. But I still cannot get the .NET Framework service to run. When I try to start it in Server manager/services it says it cannot find the required file. I don't know any way of finding which file, so I can't do anything about it. Does this problem ring any bells with anyone? Any straws gratefully clutched at!
