I am making pop-up menus in dreamweaver mx 2004 and no matter what i do (nest layers, hide/show layers) the menu is still transparent to whatever content is underneath it when it pops up. I'm probably just overlooking something very basic but please help!Did you give your menu a background color? Or do you have some sort of alpha transparency on the menu too?Yes i have a solid background color for my menu, and i have a java applet underneath the menu for an RSS weather feed, and the menu goes behind this whole layer even though the z index for the menu is greater than the java applet. The java applet might be rendered in the Window layer of the browser. A breakdown of the layers of a browser is below (a very simple one):
-------------
User (You are here )
-------------
Window (Applets, and some form elements rendered here)
-------------
Document
-------------
Frame
-------------
Document Flow (Divs rendered here)
-------------
EDIT: In essence, the layer that renders DIVs is hidden by the window layer that renders applets, because the window layer is "closer" to the user.
