Hi,My name is fergal and i am the owner of http://www.learningsteps.com an online computer training resource. I have submitted to loads of directories which are much higher PR then mine - some added some did not. Unfortunately i do not see my PR increase (i originally was pr4, now pr3).I had a lot of links to external websites - but i think that some of these sites did not have good pr - so i am wondering am i being penalized for linking to links that are not relevant. (old partners page is http://www.learningsteps.com/oldpartners.htm).I have made a new partners page http://www.learningsteps.com/oldpartners.htm that is semi automated which i intend to manage much better in the future. What would you suggest i do - remove all old backlinks from the old partners.htm and just keep the good links. Also does google adsense really add value (pr etc).I dont understand what i am doing wrong - i have tried loads of seo stuff - but no increases.Any help would be much appreciated.thanks and kind regardsFergal.Sorry the new links page ishttp://www.learningsteps.com/partners.htmI wouldn't worry so much about Pagerank, just about positioning. Even you added a lot of quality links, you can still drop in PR. This is because Google changes the way it calculates PR every update. Most of my sites lost PR this last update, even though I was able to get a lot more quality links. Didn't lose any positioning though.Continue to get good quality links. Get in DMOZ. Get in the Yahoo Directory. This will all help, but don't worry so much about Pagerank. You also said you have a lot of external links. Make sure these linking sites are linking back. If you have an external links to just resources, add a 'nofollow' tag to them so you do not leak PR.I just like to know how long did you join the Directories? I also just started my site around 2 weeks.. and seems no result on PR yet....vetofunk,Is Yahoo Directory need to pay?For the first question, if you only have had your site live 2 weeks, you will not see any PR, even though you may have gotten links. There are only 3-4 Pagerank updates per year. This is when you will see change to the Google Toolbar. For the 2nd question, yes the Yahoo directory is $299.00 per year.Good info! Thanks!Try submitting your site to directories and getting link exchanges.with looking at your post title, i know what you want and probably went through. the fact is that, you need to spend more time to build links, and good quality links from high PR sites. Consider some budget every month for link building. not only will increase PR, also increase visitors. i doing this, and my site is ranked better and better every week.
