Hi,

I have a question about starting up my windows server, im about to buy a new server and wanna start hosting service on it.

I'm experienced in windows management but its my 1st time to start a windows web hosting server myself.

any advice or e-book from beggining to end of basic setups and some advice for which softwares are more secure and compatible and etc. will appreciate.

Thanks and sorry for ma weak language.Books there are many, you may get MCSE material and many others.I will suggest get a managed or semi-managed windows VPS and learn your way up.BTW, welcome to WHT, you are going to learn a lot here itself. You might want to consider a control panel such as Plesk. Plesk on Windows works great. If you don't want a control panel, you should do a search on Google for how to setup websites in IIS6. You'll also want to get some info on Windows DNS if you plan to host your own.any advice or e-book from beggining to end of basic setups and some advice for which softwares are more secure and compatible and etc..As cdelaware recommended Plesk is a good fit for Windows, however, other control panels such as CWI Panel:http://www.cwipanel.com/, Helm4:http://www.webhostautomation.com/ and Hosting Controller:http://hostingcontroller.com/ are also available. To get effective results you you have to give specific searches in goolge like

1. setup iis
2. adding and configuring websites in iis
3. installing mysql etc

In other cases you might just come across general setup docs. However i strongly suggest to go with a control panel if you are a newbieAlso how to setup DNS server and entries..

if you are not going to use a control panel.

BUT it is good to learn all of this even with a control panel. You might want to consider a control panel such as Plesk. Plesk on Windows works great. If you don't want a control panel, you should do a search on Google for how to setup websites in IIS6. You'll also want to get some info on Windows DNS if you plan to host your own.I agree this would be your best bet hosting controller is a great control panel with excellent support and pricing. When you have clients they will also want the access it provides them to work on their own account vs you having to make every change manually.i would go with plesk. However its your choice :)...hosting controller is a great control panel with excellent support and pricing...

No disrespect intended but I WHOLLY AND TOTALLY disagree with this. I found their CP to be very clunky and buggy. The support could not speak or communicate in English effectively and they were very slow!

Now that is only my interaction with them but I most certainly would not suggest anyone use them.

I would suggest either Helm or H-Sphere. Plesk seems a bit bloated and clunky to me.
