I am trying to figure out the best way to show up in Las Vegas rankings when the business is in nearby Henderson, NV. The business ranks well in Henderson but not so well in Las Vegas searches. The business address is in Henderson.
I've put in Las Vegas as a keyword in some of the pages which helps a little. It looks like local search engines base their results on the business address.
I've thought of the following but have not implemented:
1. A Las Vegas phone number
2. A Las Vegas business address using a mailbox (through UPS)
Any other ideas?

[Removed] Neither of those things should help that much. If you don't want to change the presentation of the site, get some relevent inbound links. This forum is full of people who gather SEO links all the time, and could probably help you with that. Thanks, Jesse.

Doug Use las vegas in your anchor text when building backlinks yes, you should add some backlinks and some seo,you can find so many good link on this forum, good luck! use the word "Las Vegas" together with your targeted phrase/kws... it usually works that way.. if you are optimizing with keywords it is important that you choose the right one to land on the site that you really need. Submit your physical address to Google local listing, it can help as well. Not clear why local presence is important at all? Can someone educate me please? The business, ductmanofnevada.com who cleans air ducts and dryer vents, is located in Henderson, NV. which is south of Las Vegas. However, we want to cover Henderson and Las Vegas area. We do well in Henderson as far as SEO but not in Las Vegas. My thinking was Google local keys on the business address when listing businesses nearby a request for Las Vegas air duct cleaning. We rank low on Las Vegas queries.
