I have a redhat 7.1 system with the preinstalled mysql packages. Heres the deal on my old system I could start the server by just typing: 'mysqld' in the shell. I cannot do that on my new system I have to run 'safe_mysql &' this is where I have the problem. It says the servers starting then it just ends. I can run it with
'--skip-grant-tables' option and it runs but I can't use mysql database with this option.
PLease help me run this without dying.
