SEO is the key PR is all about quality backlinks. But I strongly agree with charles. Some people get so obsess with PR simply because they thought that getting a high PR means SUCCESS!!! It contributes a bit on your serp ranking but JUST A BIT.. There are even sites who doesn't have PR but ended up getting on the top spot on google..
Anyway, the bottom line is, its okay to check your pr but just don't get yourself too obsess about it. Get your site seo'd properly and constantly then you'll do fine.
