Got a question for you Guru's out there, i'm listed on DMOZ in a directory of PR 7 but my site only has a PR of 4, i have something like 850+ backward links yet my PR hasnt gone up in over two - three updates by google. is there a reason for this? any suggestions? please let me know thanks,Well I have not checked all of your backlinks, but somehow I got the feeling that most of your BL come from your own domain. If that's the case then theres a perfectly logical explanation.A site cannot generate it's own PR. In other words you need to get BL from other domains.I have back links from many directories, but non of them have a PR of higher then 4 yet dmoz has a PR of 7 shouldnt that trickel down to me as a PR 6?PageRank is not that important. It is only important when you are negotiating a link exchange with a webmaster that thinks it's all that Quote:which category is your site listed in? got a link?Jess wrote:One thing you will want to do is request a link change to your DMOZ listing. Sometimes it matters, sometimes it doesn't, but your DMOZ link should be pointing to http://www.vitanetonline.com/ instead of http://vitanetonline.com/, but then I see that it automatically redirects to http://vitanetonline.com/. This maybe the issue, but I am not to familiar with redirects. How long have you had this DMOZ listing? The last update wouldn't have done anything, as all my clients and many other people I talked to only noticed a PR update to PR0 pages./Shopping/Health/Nutrition/If thats the category it really is no wonder your not getting a PR6 from it. There are hundreds of links in that category and the PR has been filtered to practically nothing.well i do not want www. before my entire site. if you go to that link it redirect so that google doesnt double index me. the entire site is set to http://vitanetonline.com/have had that for the past 5 years.Ideally, you want all of your links to be formatted one or the other, with or without 'www'. The fact that your server will forward a visitor has nothing to do with PageRank. Google sees them as different pages and will split PR based on the link reference. But that is just one of many possible reasons. In addition to the other factors mentioned already, you could have been a low PR 4 before, and high PR 4 now. Also, some people believe that the formula has been changing and that you need more links now just to remain the same PR.
