can anyone give me some advice on having multiple domains for a site? i have my main domain and then 5 other domain names with great keywords in them for my target market. I am right now just 301 redirecting them to my main site. Is this good for my seo? how can i make this more effective? I think you will break Adsense rule about redirect traffic. If you don't use Adsense, you can redirect it for traffic and link juice.
I have read an ebook about to make spamming links to your other domain and redirect it to your main domain, it will make a link juice. But I'm not sure about this trick, maybe someone in this forum can explain about this.
It's really good to build your 5 other domain and make backlinks to your main site. i don't think its a problem. you can redirect or circulate your traffics from one site to another site. if those sites fulfill the Google Adsense TOS then i don't think it would be a problem.

may be the e-book link., i just want to make sure about this thing. i have used it few times but never faced any problem. Am agree with - networkwebmaster96, there is no problem in 301 redirection. If somebody is shifting their website to other Domain name, then he probably use 301 redirect to redirect all his traffic from old site or he will put a link on old site stating "this blog is shifted to blah blah ...".

Search engines will index the main domain, but will transfer the link popularity from the other Domains to the main one so that search engine rankings are not affected.
, no only one domain name of one site.a particular site have only one domain name. Quote: Originally Posted by suhailseo no only one domain name of one site.a particular site have only one domain name. I wonder if you might explain that......
Have seen many sites with multiple domain names pointing to them..... Quote: Originally Posted by networkwebmaster96 i

I just read google.com/adsense/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=96332 about "Redirects are prohibited. We reserve the right to remove either redirecting or redirected sites from the AdSense for domains network."
Maybe I misunderstood about this sentence because English is not my mother tongue, can you give some point about that?
If It OK for Adsense, I have plan to redirect 30 domain names to my main site.
Thanks for your kind help. Link is not working. I think this is not problem to redirect the domains. I did it in past and i never had the problem.. I don't suggest using multiple domains for a single website for a couple reasons:
1) A domain with no strength will not rank well, and will therefore see hardly any traffic. You would have to do SEO for each of your domains to make it worth it. And, why put your SEO efforts into 5 domains when everything can be focused on one?
2) Having multiple domains, as mentioned above, requires increased SEO efforts. At the same time, more work is needed for research (backlinks, competitor sites, etc.). It becomes a total mess that doesn't pay off in the end.
I hope this helps. 301 redirect is not a problem if you are doing it to transfer the traffic. I am currently using it for two of my sites. Actually I have two sites with different domain names and I have redirected one of them to the other. So it helps in transferring traffic and I don;t think I am punished for it..301 redirect is OK from the SEO point of view. But don't have much idea about Adsense. Redirect traffic will violate Google adsense Terms and Conditions. Avoid it or your accound will be suspended we are actually using this type of strategy, so far it gave positive results!
