Hi there

I have done a search and read past posts on meta tags (v helpful) and read a few of the tutorials, however can I ask if meta tags are necessary for every page? I am thinking of the likes of guestbook, form, gallery and links pages - do they need them?

Many thanks
Sonya. The only meta tag I find really usefull is the one declaring which charset you're using - for certification purposes. Otherwise I really don't use them all that often - I suppose it's up to you though which you wanna use. I don't think they would really be neccessary for each page, maybe just your main page.Yes, you need meta tags on every single page of your site.
The HTML doctype, content-type (charset) and content-language all help browsers, and some search engines.
Important tags like title, keywords and description are used by search engines. These should be optimised for the individual page. That is, the title, keywords, and description for each page should be based on what the main content of that page actually is. You'll find that this SEO work will lead to your site getting a better listing in search engines.
There is some other basic information here: http://www.htmlforums.com/showthread.ph ... adid=18733Originally posted by giz
