Will mySQL run faster by having all the tables lumped together in one database?<br /><br />Or should the tables be organized into multiple databases? <br /><br />Maybe it wouldn't make a difference. I have a feeling that only a benchmark would show but maybe someone here knows.<!--content-->
If you aren't going to be accessing tables from the other databases, I'd keep them seperate. It makes things a whole lot easier when backing up, restoring, etc.<!--content-->
Try separating them by application - 1 database for an online discussion forum, another for the sales software, another for the tech support software, another for your blog, etc...<!--content-->
