Making the switch to CSS

Hi everyone,

I just finished designing a site using regular old html and *gasp* tables... I know, I know... I really would like to get going with CSS and well, basically I don't know where to start. This might be a good time to start since I have the luxury of time and of getting paid quite well for this project.

Anyway, I know everything is possible to do in CSS as I've done on this site, but any sort of starting tips might be nice.

Here is the temp site:

<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.davidjcubberly.com/lehighfluidpower/">http://www.davidjcubberly.com/lehighfluidpower/</a><!-- m -->

Oh, and one last little question - I've seen on alot of CSS sites a particular type of font... I don't know what it is, but it is sans serif but still a little bit more exciting than Arial or Verdana... Any clues as to what it might be?

Thanks so much!

Dave

ps - I also finally found the joys of creating a seperate style page that is linked to in each page of the site. That way I can globally change font color etc for the whole site in seconds rather than going through each page everytime. Excellent. I'm happy. So now to make a completely CSS site!!Nice and clean and should be VERY easy to de-table. Looks primarily like 4 divs and a couple of lists of links.Ha! Thanks. Well, at least it's nice to know that it shouldn't be too hard... Now I just have to figure out what you just said.

I've been around this css business for a long time now and everytime I get a little bit. I think it's starting to make sense. I just have to go and do it.

So, I should be possible to have those boxes with the same border and everything as I have it? I remember somewhere about css it works well for boxes like that. Anyway, thanks for the comments...Check out the Cederholm book and A List Apart (<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://alistapart.com">http://alistapart.com</a><!-- m -->).
