Major Table Problems

Okay before I start off I will show you all what I am doing here - <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://server45.hypermart.net/swh-jedicouncil/main.htm">http://server45.hypermart.net/swh-jedicouncil/main.htm</a><!-- m --> . <br />
<br />
You can probably see my problem just from glancing at the page. I need the text "How do I get this text to the top?" at the top of the main content table to the right of the quick links without screwing up the rest of the page. You'll most likely have to view the coding to help me with this but help -will- be extremely appreciated! I've been at this for a couple of days now and have got nothing. So anyone who can give me an exact answer to this problem will from now on be considered a god!<br />
<br />
Thank you for your time.<!--content-->Hi Joe44<br />
<br />
yep, was not ok.....<br />
Watch your tables......<br />
I've used Arachnophilia.<br />
Only the basis of the page i have left<br />
Take a look.<br />
. . : : And welcome to the HtmlForums : : . .<!--content-->Joe44,<br />
From just glancing at your text, I can see that the problem revolves around the fact that the text you are trying to put at the top of your table is in the third row down!! There is no way you can get it to align at the top with the way you currently have the table set out. <br />
<br />
Try this instead:<br />
.......<br />
<td width="27%" class="main" valign="top" align="left" cellspacing=0 cellpadding=0><br />
<table border=5 bordercolor=#465B7A><tr><th class="new">Quick Links:</th></tr><td><select class="select"> <option value="">--Select Link--</option> <option value="">Homepage</option></select></td></tr></table></td><br />
<br />
<td rowspan="2" class="main" valign="top" align="right"><br />
<table cellspan=0 cellspacing=0 width=60% bgcolor="red"><br />
<tr><td class="main">How do I get this text to go to the top??<br />
</table></td></tr><br />
<br />
<tr><td width=27% class="main" align="left"><br />
<table cellspan=0 cellspacing=0 border=5 bordercolor=#465B7A><br />
<tr><td class="new"><b><center>Contact:</center></b><br />
</tr><tr><td class="content"><li><a href=http://www.htmlforums.com/archive/index.php/"mailto:whoever">Department Head</a><br />
<div align="left"><br />
<li><a href=http://www.htmlforums.com/archive/index.php/"mailto:whoever"><br />

</td></tr><br />
.......<br />
<br />
You may need to play around with it a bit, but your answer lies in the rowspan command.<br />
<br />
Hope this helps. If not, post again and I'll try the script out and post a more complete answer.<!--content-->Where exactly do you want it at the "top"? Do you want it above your drop-down menu, on the first blue line, or at the top of the big blue table?<!--content-->well first off, put the text in the first Table Data.<br />
<br />
<br />
and maybe put the valign attribute in the td<br />
<br />
<br />
<td valign="top"><br />
<br />
like that <br />
<br />
but make sure you move that text to the first table data<br />
<br />
you probably dont even need the valign but it doesnt hurt to put in<!--content-->
