Hey TCH-ers,

I've set up a Mailman list for my extended family, however Mailman doesn't seem to be accepting or responding in any way to e-mail commands; you know, e-mail sent commands to subscribe, unsubscribe, etc.

I've looked at every setting in the setup that I can think of. Does anybody else have a suggestion as to why my email commands simply aren't working at all?

Thanks,
I'm wondering if this is has to do with server configurations, so I've submitted a help desk ticket.

As it sits right now, nobody can subscribe to the list either through e-mail commands, or through the web-based interface. The only way to manage users, then, is to log in to as the admin and manually add users to the list.

Anyway, I'm checking with the help desk to see if this is due to server configuration or what.

As always, if you have non-server related ideas of what I might try, please let me know.
Off the top of my head, you could use Dada Mail. Not a fan of Mailman myself.
It turns out that Mailman needed to be restarted. The help desk does it again!

Tim, what is Dada Mail? Would converstion be seamless? What is better about it?
I'm no mailing list guru, but I like the interface better and there are no services to be restarted. It allows you to import various file types for moving your list over, and it has an option for a MySQL backend.

But like I said, I'm not really much into mailing lists. Just another option if Mailman keeps acting up on you.

http://mojo.skazat.com/
There are things that MailMan will do that dadamail wont. Here is a thread that tells what I like about mailman.

With the problems that it seems to have, I have decided to bag mailman and simply to create a forward that goes to many different email accounts. Its simple, and I havent had to submit any tickets to help desk about it since.

Being a list of family members it doesnt change that often. I figure if someone would be kicked out of the family, I would be the first to go. Who cares what happens to the list after Im gone. Let them mess with it.
