Links,Forums and Page Rank Advice

I am looking into some forums where I think I could spread the word about my gadget review site and have actually found a forum that doesn't add no follow to signature links but the forum part of the site has a PR of 0 but if you go to the home page it has a PR of 4.

Firstly is it the page your link is on that passes link juice or the domain as a whole if that makes sense

and secondly will putting links up on a PR0 forum hurt/effect my ranking on Google.

If someone could answer this forum me that would be great There's a saying that goes "Any backlink is a good backlink" and for the most part it's true. Even nofollow backlinks present some value to your site whether from search engines or traffic. If you have a backlink from a PR 0 site then it helps some, but definitely not as much as say a PR 4.

While it's always a good idea to try and get the highest quality backlinks as possible. Quality and quantity pretty much go hand and hand when it comes to advertising and backlink building. What about when the website has a PR of 4 but then the forum has a PR of 0 does the PR4 link juice get passed on or the PR0 because thats the page the link came from?? The homepage rank of the site may be considered for link building. If the forum where you discuss is a active one then automatically the forum may get some PR which will help to improve the value of your backlinks. However a forum with no follow signature links is not of great use. I think even no follow links are worth value. I would participate if it is relevant to your business since you never know where your next customer will come from. I have always believed that no follow links can be handy its all about conversion and yes I would love all my links to not have the nofollow tag but somes times that's not possible.

I opening my website to visitors 48 hours ago and have already had adsense clicks and an order through amazon affiliates so what ever I was doing is working.

The bit that I still dnt quite fully understand is usually the homepage is pr of say 4 but the page on directories that your link will go on wi be 0 making it pretty useless and very hard to get decent PR one way backlinks. No follow links will add some kind of value to link juice, and coming to the point of PR it matters which page the link is coming from. But getting link from pr0 is because search engine looks for links from the unique domain. If you links up on a PR 0 forum that will not effect your ranking on search engine. Please note that the PR you are looking at toolbar is not current PR. It is possible that the page might have PR but it is not shown in toolbar.

So if you are getting links from good websites, it is always good. Hi,

I'm new to this forum, I've 17 years experience in Internet marketing.

Firstly, don't worry too much about page rank for your own web site, page rank is only a guide for webmasters, (this is not my "idea", it comes straight from Google's official blog), the higher the page rank, the better that page is doing for SEO.

Page rank is most useful for backlinks to your own web site.

Most people forget that Google lists and ranks web pages, not web sites.

So if you had a web site on Fishing, lots of backlinks from astronomy web pages, online games web pages, hockey web pages, etc etc, could cause problems.

They neither pass any link building credit nor get crawled by search engines.
