Links don't work

I create a web page on the HD and then upload it to the ISPs 'Homepage' site which, in my case, is:

home.twcny.rr.com/suecortland

I am making an assumption, perhaps invalid, that links, created on the HD should work without modifications when uploaded to the 'Homepage' site. For instance, a link on the HD to;

Photos/Students1914.htm

I create as:

/Photos/Students1914.htm

But here is what I find to actually exist at the 'Homepage':

http://home.twcny.rr.com/Photos/Students1914.htm

It leaves out the "suecortland" even thoough that is what I am logged on to.

Will I actually have to create the link as:

/suecortland/Photos/Students1914.htm

Or is there a way around this so that the HD links would work when uploaded anywhere?

Here is the full path to my web page:

My Home Page (home.twcny.rr.com/suecortland/Barnhart.htm)
Look under :Students>Students 1914This ia a link:
http://home.twcny.rr.com/Web/Photos/Students1931.htm
Is there a directory called Web?
:rocker:All my files and folders are on the HD under "WEB". But when I upload them, I do not send "WEB" but only what in "WEB". So "WEB" does not exist at the "HOMEPAGE" site. (or at least it shouldn't).did you fix it? they work ok for meThis really puzzles me to hear that they work for you. There are 25 links to photos and documents and NONE of them work for me!!!you might be using a old cached page. try holding (ctlr) key and the hit refresh. or delete all of your temp internet files and reload the page.

ahh sorry I didn't go to the rigth page. I see this for Students 1931 link

<a href=http://www.htmlforums.com/archive/index.php/"../../../Photos/Students1931.htm"> Students
1931

I beleive you went back to far in your ../ try taking 1 out and it will / should workAfter a week struggling with this beast, I finally got it. It requires only a single "../". That is what I put in, using Front Page Express; couldn't get it to work. Found out the FPE was sticking one or two extra "../" in there. Went to Arach and it worked out fine. Someone else told me to do that, but I really didn't know what had to go in there. Now I know only a single "../" like:

../Photos/Students1914.htm

I tried Arach with 1,2,3 and 4 "../" and found easily which one works. Damm FPE has a mind of its own. Thanks all for your replies.

Thanks all.you finally got it? gee your welcome. that is what I told you to do. and that is what you get if you use FrontPage.
