I was trying to figure out how our competition gets backlinks and I found this:

When I do a Google "link:loveyourpetexpo.com" it doesn't show my pages, so how come their own pages show up in a link: thingy? More important, does it matter? You should not check your own backlinks or any other site's backlinks via link: operator as this operator shows a very small sample of links for a site. Yahoo Site Explorer show lot more backlinks.

In Yahoo and you will see your own list being listed too. May be SEs are showing pages where they have found a link to the site that we are searching [that may
