I was wondering what layers are used for? I've read that they are used for DHTML? Can you use layers for anything else - as you use them in graphic editing programs?<!--content-->In short:<br />

Layers are created using CSS.<br />

Thank you Mr J, I'll check that out as well.<!--content-->Mr. J has it prety much right on. Layers = divs. You can use CSS to do many things with them. Are you a Dreamweaver user? If so, just because Dreamweaver assigns a layer id to each DIV does not mean it is a div. <br />

Layers are also used in some graphics programs such as Photoshop Illustrator...etc so you can stack things on top of each other or separate things from each other.<br />

Maybe if you go to School (<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.w3schools.com/">http://www.w3schools.com/</a><!-- m -->) you can get all the definitions you are looking for. The W3C schools are a good place to start.<br />
