I have one of the project having more than 1600 keywords. Earlier I was having very good ranking for all the keywords for this project. But Now a days for more than five hundreds of keywords the ranking is very low. Due to the any reason might be, I would like to ask, What may be the steps I should take at this stage to get recovered my ranking for the rest of the keywords? please suggest me. Your advices are most welcome. To be honest, this situation is very common in many profit websites. Because of the irregular changes of search engine arithmetic, your website will be greatly changed at the same time. If you find that there are many of your keywords the ranking is so low, you should make a plan in time to analyze the radical causes. Here I have several steps to help you quickly diagnose the ranking drop of your keywords.
1. Check your content regularly
You must regularly check your website content, to make sure if there is some illegal content in, if so, you must clean them up at once. In addition, you should update the website content regularly.
2. Look up other website's situation
If most part of websites are greatly changed, so it may be the arithmetic changes of search engine.
3. Check the links of website
After adding the links, you should regularly manage them. A mature website needs removing the broken and dead links, especially those illegal websites' links, which will implicate your website ranking.
4. Check the stability of server
As for a website, server is not only a loader, but also a protector. The most scary thing for a website is the unstability of server. If the server is unstable, the website will not open or open very slowly, which also affects the ranking of a website. What's more, if many websites are in the same server, one server's authority is fallinged, other severs likewise will be implicated. Check the backlinks. I think previously the sites from which you get backlinks, now that sites removed the links. So, try to get more backlinks. Also, you may be changed something on your site that also affects the ranking. I think its due to panda updation. you should do keep working on-page or off-page and you have to keep patience and make quality links. I think it is because of the latest google update. Check the pages which lost ranking and update them, make some on-page SEO on them. Here are the most common reasons why ranking go down:
* Backlinks lost
* No new useful content
* Less traffic
To remedy:
* Spend time on link building
* Always update your website with new relevant content
* Advertise to attract more traffic check your content against each keyword. i have never face this situation. but i think you should start from the beginning again. The only thing you need to is keep working by collecting some good and healthy links to the site and the most important think about keeping an eye to the content which must be relevant and unique now as per the 'content farm' from google panda.
The quality work with patience in this process can only get back your rankings as they were previously. With the constant updates and changes in Google's algorithm, the more that you have to exert effort in building your site's quality links and providing it with useful content. If you just sit back for a month, your ranking may be badly hurt. make as much link building for them as you can? and try to rank them up; At a guess, the panda update for Google may have affected your rankings.
And like others have said, some sites you have backlinks from may have been removed or the page containing the link back to your site deleted, or something similar!
Unfortunately you will have to continue your SEO work to re-rank your keywords.
Your not alone though, a lot of sites are suffering from updates to search engine algorithms! I was wondering if those 1,600 keywords are set to one website only
if it is then maybe you are keyword stuffing your website and or
possible the keywords you are using are not effective for your website.
Maybe lessening the numbers of keywords you used and checking the
keywords itself can help you to rank your website again. That is just an
opinion hope it helps
Maybe it's just competition for your keywords.
Or, check and see if those keywords are related to your pages and not just to get good SERP.
