Hey all
Just wondering what your veiws are on this. Do you feel that lately too much importance has been given to keyword being in domain name?
Just seems now that aslong as you have keyword in domain name with a small amount of effort towards SEO you can take the first page if not top spot over a much better site thats put in alot more effort towards SEO.
Seems that new sites are taking over top spots everywhere just because they have keywords in their domain over sites/domains that have been around for 20 years, which are better quality and provide a better service to their visitors.
Do you agree or do you think its a good thing?
Cheers
John Yes it impact the ranking but not too much. If you are doing SEO in high quality sites then it is not the problem to get the high rank. I think it depends on the niche. If nobody has one, then it will help you. If it is competitive like weight loss or web hosting, then no. Most people in that niche will have it in their domain. More important to get backlinks with your keyword/phrase in it. http://www.v7n.com/forums/seo-forum/...-1-7-days.html I must say domain based on keywords are more likely to get better ranking on search engines (Google). Less effort and better results. I registered a domain with more than 1500000 search every month on local basis and it has got 8th rank on 1st page without that much effort.
But I also admit, there are several websites performing better than keyword based domain. Because of their quality in contents & links. Yes. Its effective and can ranks your website good with less effort but you should note that it depends on the keywords you are competing for too. For some keywords you easily can rank high with exact match domain but for some others its difficult. It depends on your competitors too. If they have made a lot of backlinks for their website, competing with them is difficult and maybe you can't compete them even with having exact match domains . Where did u see this ?
Any examples ?
Top rankings might be there for these new sites but short lived.

John Your question is simple, focus on a brand name. Do not focus on a silly keyword in the domain name. Targeting only one keyword will not help to increase traffic. so tr different keywords. Hi, John
In my own experiences, having or using your targeted keywords in domain names would be helpful for SERP purpose but it would be less important when comparing with keywords in title tags and page contents.
all the best, Im doing SEO for over 7 years now and I noticed that the keyword in the domain definitely helps. But the weight of this depends on the niche. When a nich is very competitive the weight of the domain name goes down and the backlinks are getting more important! My view is if you have yet to pick a domain it is good to have your primary keywords in your domain name. If you have a well established site then it is not worth abandoning the site to get a keyword rich domain. Brand is important, but let's be honest...under current google algorithms mini-sites do still work. It all depends on your strategy. Most brands do not contain keywords. Of course, if you put enough effort to your site then you can simply outrank keyword domains, but it's a lot easier for rank for those Johneva, You are correct on your points in having Keywords in Domain name. yes, it is an advantage on SERP, but the main factor to be considered is the competition of the keywords. Also, we should not forget that age of a domain also matters. So, go ahead and book domains with keywords now itself. Hello,
I feel it's really important to buy such a Domain name which is the main keyword you are targeting and that too in .com (if it's possible), because then half of the battle is already won.. It's like a golden coin among all the silver ones.If u have keywords or even part of it present in ur domain then doing a simple and proper SEO can boost up ur link in the first page of google and make u stay there for long time.Just keep building backlinks with ur keywords and soon u will see ur link hitting the first page and thus u will get lots of organic visitors which will help ur site rank and also increase the PR of ur site over the course of time. This is very true that keyword rich domains require very less SEO efforts to come on top positions in search engines. People do trust on these new sites if you offer better services or products. keyword in domain is an advantage but not very strong, rather one of the less important.
.... remember Content is King It is very good to have keyword in the domain name for SEO. It will take very less work to get to the top of google with keyword in domain name.
For different domain name you have do to much work in term of SEO.
