If you do this google search you Google Search You will see that my site chibabeat.com has fallen somewhere on the second page 2 position 18 (it might be on the 3rd page by now). My site was around 6 last month and it seems like every day I'm falling a position. I'm pretty sure that part of this might be due to a lack of backlinks.I've been trying to get backlinks but of about 30 mails I have sent out to webmasters I have only received 3 replies. Should I keep mailing until I at least get some sort of a reply or should I just stop after sending only one mail?Does anyone have any advice on the best way to contact a webmaster about a link?you should try and get oneway links from other site. best way to do that in my opinion is to buy one way links from a high PR website. if you can get a back link from a .edu site that would benefitI have contacted some .edu webmasters but I haven't received any replies. Honestly, I think that the site is worth linking to since it is the only Chiba, Japan site that is in English. Do you think I should try contacting them again just in case my mail went into their spam folder and they were never able to see it?Well i think normally webmaster of .edu sites dont engage in link exchanges. Getting them are pretty tricky. If you have an advertising budget then maybe buy a few links on .edu site or even high PR sites in the same theme as your own.Your website was last cached on 9th june 2006, so wait for the next cache and see. Meanwhile try to replace that revisit tag to 10days and also try to add robots.txt or try adding <meta content="ALL" name="ROBOTS"> <meta content="index, follow" name="robots">try and let me knowchouOk I made those changes and hopefully it might help some. I'm trying to get more backlinks and hopefully over time they will build up. I will let you know how things go.
