I just got a new computer recently; a very fine
HP computer (usually hate HP) @ a good price.

Now, when I happened to be uninstalling this trival
piece of demo software the computer store had on it
(game demo) I noticed this on the Add or Remove Programs panel:

Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 - 37.07MBs, rarely used

Is this for .NET? or ASP, or ASP.net;
I think ASP.net is same as ASP or .NET, not sure;

Anywhose, just curious as to what it is....NET Framework is the machine behind many things... of these ASP.NET is included.

You can design ASP.NET without the framework but you will not be able to run it or preview it on your machine. You will need to upload it to an ASP.NET server to test it.

You could think of .NET Framework as core bunch of prewritten building blocks and functions that add extras to your development so that you dont have to write them at all... It also governs the parsing like IIS. That is a very simple look at it... but there you go.

If you are going to develop ASP.NET at some point do not get rid of it... you will need it.Nah, I'm not looking into .NET, ASP, or ASP.net
development, as I'm (hosting) on a redhat LINUX server.

Just wondering what it, as it wasn't on the
family comp, which uses Windows 2000Pro.
