Hi friends,

I have one website good page rank and keyword ranking also. Website created 7 years ago. Now redesigning website, the home page have one popup window. If visitor answered the popup window questions, then go for the website home page.

My doubt is popup window spoil seo work, keyword rank and page rank. Please anyone guide me about this. This statement is conditional and not clear, you didn't say what will happen next when the user ignore or didn't answer the popup question.

I will answer this way (My answer as a user):
Is the popup window an advertisement?
- If yes, I will close the window and browse to other websites.
- If yes, but can be closed without answering, I will close the popup window and browse the site.
- If no and the popup window can be closed without answering, I will close the popup window then continue browsing.
- If no, but website can't be browse without answering the popup question, I will close the window and browse to other website.

Is the popup window a survey like thing?
- If yes and can be closed without answering, I will close the popup window and continue browsing.
- If yes and can't be closed that popup without answering the question, then I will leave.
- If no and I can close the popup window, I will continue browsing.
- If no but the answer is required, then I will certainly leave the page.

Bottom line: If the popup window will annoy / bother / destruct the users interest to your website, don't put it anyway. The effect? Clearly low traffic, low conversion and high bounce rate (negatively high bounce rate).
Just my opinion. Well if your site is welcomed by a pop up with some questions, then surely you will experience a high bounce rate which can cause lower in rankings.

It is best not to welcome users with popups. most visitors don't like popups and might increase your site bounce rate.. Hi MrSS, i agree with your valuable reply.

In My website homepage popup window is not a advertisement, visitor selecting business vertical (eg:supermarket) through popup and directing to the concern page and finding the solutions.

Thanks ponmayil,
You are welcome, am glad you appreciate my answer.

About your homepage, it's clear that the popup is totally part of your website and will help the user to find what they are looking for. If that's so, I will stay on the page and enjoying any information I can get. Quote: Originally Posted by MrSS ponmayil,

I would not advise you to use pop up windows especially if they are in JavaScript.

Pop ups deliver a bad user experience and search engines especially Google. So better stay away from pop up and pop under windows.
