Is it possible for directories to rank high in Google?

Will the type of content in web directories allow them to rank high in SERPs?Theres no reason why they wouldn't.I have had visitors from google who have searched for things.Something that would help is to edit peoples titles a descriptions to make them keyword dense.What would you consider to be the best way to drive traffic to your directory?A link in your signature on a webmaster forum (which you have) is a good startAnd by contacting people who run directory lists and asking them if they would like to include your directory.http://info.vilesilencer.com/http://www.directorycritic.com/http://www.directorylist.org/Also put it on hotscripts.com as a remotely hosted service.You may also want to consider contacting the auto- and semi-auto directory submission services, to see if they will add yours as one of their directories.
