I am thinking about installing this plugin which will disable text selection on my pages, but I am wondering if this would be a bad idea for SEO purposes like indexing, crawling etc..

Thanks It will not hurt any of your SEO effort.
If you have read it carefully, this plug-in does protect user from right click and drag a mouse to highlight your content for copy purpose. This protection will not effect of search engines bots crawling and anything.
Go grab it!! lol as far as i know its really easy to bypass that kind of script.. there are also browser plugins that can deactivate it..
