Hi

I am not sure what subject or category this question pertains to....but I am going to ask anyway....

Lately, when I bookmark a web page.... it gets saved with a 鎼噊go?icon in my favorite folder of that particular site.

I was wondering how is this done??? Is it done by HTML, Java Scripting, Individual network system, DHTML, or some other method???

I think it is rather awesome and it is an easy way of defining the bookmarked page. Is this possible to do in personal web site that is on a web space host???? And if so.... how is this done???

Thanks
vickyIts just HTML

YOu can learnhere, its where I learned about it

http://www.favicon.comThere is no HTML to it at all I'm afraid...
What you are referring to is called a 'favicon' and the following link will show you how to make one...

http://www.purple-owl.com/favicon.htmlTheres HTML so it appears when bookmarked but you need an ICO fileJGAC, there is no html that you need, just load the favicon in your root directory and that is all. brwosers taht support it will pick it up automatically. sure you can use html, but why when you don't need it.oo

I always used some code some guy gave me to do that.Hey

Thanks for all the replies!

I checked up on that favicon ...it appears to be pretty neat! I looked up some info on it too....from what I read...it has some bugs that needs to be worked out.

I read....
---that it does not work with all versions of netscape
---does not work with a lot of versions of explorer
---has problems in maintaining the size
---some problems can be corrected by layering
---sometimes when the problem occurs...it messes with the computer... then will not bring up the web site.

I would have save the web page that I got the info off, but I didn't think I would be relaying it to anyone.

I don't know how much of this is true....but I am going to play around with it.

Thanks again!
vickyIt doesn't work in older browsers, because it was only invented a year or so ago, long after those browsers were designed.a year? I have been using it for 3 years.
