I am looking for ways to increase international traffic. I do very well in the states, where my business and website are based out of, but I want to increase traffic in other parts of the world - mainly India, China, and the United Kingdom. I do get some customers from these parts of the world.
I assume anybody from anywhere in the world can access Google.com and see the results I see, even if Google offers google.ca and google.in and other versions for their own country too?
I do notice that although I rank well with google.com, I rank poorly on google.in and google.ca and google.uk, etc.
I have heard mixed suggestions. Some say that you need international domains like yoursite.uk or .in. Others say that it helps if the site is hosted on a foreign server. Others say that it just depends on the language of your site.
Would having my site in multiple languages - where visitors can choose their language - help? What about the UK, who speaks English. Plus, there are plenty of English-speaking people in India.
I am confused about promoting my site outside of the U.S. and getting more traffic. Currently less then 2% of my traffic comes from India for instance, and my competitor sees 13%. We're both US based. Trying various social networking accounts for your targeted countries. Check out the popular networking sites rather than twitter and facebook on those countries. For example in india ibibo is a popular one next to the main two. Try it to improve indian traffic. Similarly do it for other countries too. To make your site viewable in all languages my suggestive is go for Google transulate and add it in your site easy for all to use and install ^
yeah , Language translation can prove a good reason for getting international visitors.
So many web surfers read sites by translating it for me it's about 3-4% of total visitors. how about a script that change your site content language.. it can help... exposing your site on other internationally related sites can also help.. For increase international traffic, you can use social networking sites like facebook, twitter, myspace and many more because most of the people in the world are using social networking sites and with that you can increase the visitors of your website. Actually, targeting local markets depends on how your niche or traffic fair to their needs. Since Google.com is much at larger scope and use English language by default, adding other language version to your website will definitely help boost your rankings at other local Google domains since those who don't speak English will search on using their local languages. Great post, i am facing the same problem from many days, I have a website that I have most of my traffic from the United States, and sometimes some traffic from other countries such as Britain, Australia or Canada, but I know for any reason other countries has been minimal.
I know where the language is important, but many people speak English, so I can see why my site is in English, so I can not save traffic?
I was wondering if anyone has any tips to increase to help me, I am the traffic not to see a lot of clicks? Does anyone know the best way to deal with it? Target those directories for your link which represent the country where you want to promote your business. Google prefers those site according to searching area. To get customers from india and china, you must be available on google.co.in and google.cn
