GARS: vb.org installer/release add on

Find yourself hanging around vb.org all day in the release sections simply because you find them so sexy? Wish you could apply that same look with those same tick boxes to your forums? Hold on to your hats because now you can.

With this add on for GARS PRO and GARS LITE, you can create a new type to apply to your forums: the Installs/Release type. With this new fangled functionality you get:
  • Those neat tick boxes
  • Last update, release date, vb version, mod version, etc...
  • Install counter
  • Install/uninstall buttons (that work!)
  • Install counts on forumdisplay (heck, it even lets you know if you have installed it!)
  • The ability for the author to see if someone replying to the thread has installed.
  • Release manager that lets you view all users that have installed your release
What you don't get:
  • A send update function. If there is a screaming need, ill do it when I get time.
  • A list of all your installed stuff on your profile. I may do that if there is a screaming need to.
  • The annoying thing at .org where you have to re-edit your post to put in the version number and such
But wait, theres more! Since this is a GARS module set, you get much much more:
  • Multiple pages
  • GARS modules (i.e. reviews, TOC's, ratings, blahblahblah)
This package is a bit more than just 1 file. It includes a new table, 3 new files and some additional templates. It also includes a product installer that will install these items as well as create a new term set, new type, new template set, register the modules and basically clean your curtains.

Upload all files from the download package to the correct forum location.

that this hack do?

with this hack you can connect other applications with vbulletin
this hack provide a simple api to create own module, to connect different application with vbulletin, and create common login with it

this addon is the same like com_connector for joomla

example:

you have an CMS or own created application and you want to have common login with vbulletin
so you must creat a class ( = module ) which knows some methods like login/logout
this methods will be called by the connector if the user login into VB
if you want the connector will try to add the user to your application or vbulletin, if the user dont exists
the connect to your application can be created by soap/xmlrpc calls, database connnects, ldap or something else, its your choose

for a little demo i have included a joomla module, which connects to joomla using SOAP calls to get common login with vbulletin ( needs JMSOAP addon for joomla )

demo is on my side: vBTEAM Underground - Free vBulletin Hacks, Skins and Support

if you log in into joomla, you will be automaticaly logged in vbulletin, by com_connector hack for joomla ( which is using VB_SOAP on vbulletin side )
if you login into vbulletin, you will be automaticaly logged in into joomla, by this hack ( using JMSOAP addon on joomla side )

in the next version i will include functions to update/delete users


installation
1. unzip the package, move all files von vb_connector folder to your forumroot
2. install product xml file

the you have new menu in admincp to create connectors
it is posible to use one module more then once

howto create own modules: Joomla! • View topic - com_connector ( universal Connector for forums or other applications)

you can use this tutorial for joomla, difference with joomla is, that you will get all parameters as array, not as object, look at the joomla.class.php file in the package
 
I am not sure but the user comments in the Vb.ORG Thread suggest that it don't even work on 3.6.8

So u can give it a try !!

anybody else can get that 7th & 8th mod Away message for users?
