I'm new to scripts and need your help plz!!

Hey guys, im new to javascripts and im lost atm as to how i can go about the following 2 problems im having.

I want to have an image that when my page loads, 4 other images randomly appear on the page, upon the user clicking the page to load.

also im after a script that when a link to another page is clicked. That page loads with a scrolling text in the status bar.

if any 1 could plz help me with these 2 problems
