I ran a search in google for link:www.mywebpage.com recently and the links going to my site from other sites have gone.I am just wondering what happened.Any Ideas?Google just ran a backlink update a few days ago. Many Many webmasters were complaining of the same issue.well my links still show up on altavista and my cometitor has almost the same amount of links he had before, so what gives, what is the criteria for not having your links removed???darksat wrote:What you must remember is that google will only "show" backlinks with PR of 4 and above, what has probably happened is that your link partners have dropped a PR or two on the page that your link has been placed, but it's also a possibility that because of the update now taking place things have not settled, I would wait a couple of days I am not convinced what you said is entirely true anymore world4health. Since this last update it seems Google has reversed that and for the most part are only showing pages that are PR4 and below.darksat...if what bigwebmaster is saying is true...and it appears that it is...do you have any low PR pages on your site? If not maybe that's where all you links went.My homepage is a 5, My other main pages are 4 and I have a large amount of pr3 pages just for jurisdictions and countries.and my SERP Positions havnt changed much at all.Seems like the serps haven't changed in a while. I don't have any backlinks from any internal pages that are not PR0 or PR1...my guess is things are the same as they have always been on the google side of the engine...but they area messing around with what we can see. Thanks for all the info.Bigwebmaster wrote:Something weird is happening, don't know what yet yer I had loads of links now I have 4
