I opened my first computer and the internet connection didn't work at all. All the connections were plugged in before I went on the 1 week vacation the way it was and it was on. So then, I restarted it and then it worked but it was really really slow which was very unusual. (this computer was XP btw). Then I opened my second computer (Vista), typed in my password and let it wait and then it said "Preparing Desktop" which never ever happened to me before. It loaded for some time and then I only saw 3 rows of icons when I normally had like 6-7 rows of icons. My McAfeee popped up and said the registry was changed and if i should allow it or not. The Gadgets were very different because some of them I never had and my weather gadget stated San Francisco when I was living in NY. Some other windows popped up too that I never seen before. (Sry I kinda forgot which were they). So then this was very weird to me so I System Restored it to the way it was before I left and everything was back to normal except for the fact that it was very slow like the other computer. Sometimes its like really slow sometimes its normal. I don't understand what happened...........<br />

http//cotojo.wordpress.com/2008/07/07

If the problem persists, turn OFF System Restore and scan with the above programs in Safe Mode, Right click My computer > select Properties > System Restore Tab > Tick Turn Off System restore on all drives.

After scans are complete and machine is clean remember to turn system restore back ON and create a new restore point.

Once your scans are complete and your machine is clean, uninstall some of the programs, I suggest that you keep Malwarebytes for manual scanning, Spyware Doctor for realtime monitoring and Spybot. The remainder can be removed to save drive space, but you may want to keep the installers for future use.

Some one messed with it. They probably infected it with a Trojan or other. Try downloading Nod32 and do a scan on your computer.

You have been infected with a nasty malware, your security soft has failed to do it's job.
First do an online scan and clean with http//www.bitdefender.com/scan8/ie.html AND http//www.ewido.net/en/onlinescan/
Now it's time to replace that miserable insecurity software that you use; download the installers for
browser - http//www.opera.com/ - use this instead that malware magnet IE
antivirus - http//www.avast.com/
antispyware - http//www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=435BFCE7-DA2B-4A6A-AFA4-F7F14E605A0D&displaylang=en/
................. - http//www.safer-networking.org/en/download/index.html
firewall - http//www.personalfirewall.comodo.com/
They are all the best in their category and FREE.
Unplug the internet line, uninstall the junk and install these (if necessary in safe mode) one by one with each necessary reboot done.
Reconnect the line and update them (Spybot has it manual).
That's all. Now admire how fast and safe your pc is (only if you never use IE again).
