I DID IT! I managed to change the basic default template into my websites new layout. Well there are some errors... but ohh well i figured out that you just copy paste some codes and change some links... yay. well I know that expression engine is coming more and more known and popular with designers and developers! I recommended it!!
Congrats! It does take some getting used to to work out how it all works, but I agree it is a very feature rich and robust cms system.

I also recommend it as my fav' commercial CMS system.
is the free version not worth using?

It also depends if your using it for non-profit I think the free one covers non-profit use so you can create your own personal blogs etc, but couldn't put Adsense on it for example.
Having rediscovered EE recently I can say it's an awsome CMS, and the free Core version is a great choice for personal sites. I'm just waiting for the right customer to come along so I can use it with a vengence!
