I am a n00b please give me general idea of how to do these 2 simple things...

Hi all,

First issue, how do I "split" the sub-forums? Like in picture (3), the sub-forums are separated ("Lowbrow Discussion").

On my forum, "The Lounge" just follows on from the two sub-forums above it, despite the parent forum being set to "No one".

Secondly, how do I insert small jpegs/GIFs into the sub-forum rows on the index page.

Those are called categories.

In the admin panel, when you add a new forum their is a section with 4 options. One is "Is this an active forum". If you choose "no" it will make it a category. That's ALL it takes =) Then add sub forums to this as a "Parent" category.

Hi again,

Well in a few hours I am no longer such a noob! Thanks to your help I cracked the categories problem. I even installed a mod to make icons appear next to sub-forums.

Notice in the (defunct) forum above, the designer has replaced the forum old/new icons with icons which illustrate each forum.

How difficult is it to remove that column?
