is there a reason why Dreamweaver defaults to saving files as .htm rather than .html?<br />
<br />
is there a difference?<br />
<br />
thanks<!--content-->The ".htm" extension is a concession to Microsoft and their old 8.3 naming convention. There is no difference unless for some reason your ISP doesn't support it.<!--content-->ok - thanks!<!--content-->i like to use .htm just to be consistant with using 3 letter extensions<!--content-->This topic came up a few weeks ago. I think the consensus is to use which ever you prefer (unless you work for a company that demands use of one or the other, for consistency). Just don't use both of them on the same site, then it gets real confusing on links. I use .htm cause I'm lazy and it's one less letter. Also I use Dreamweaver, and .htm is the default extension in that.<!--content-->
