ok groovers - this is probably a dumb/easy questions

what's the difference bewteen htm and html?
from what i've been tolg htm is the older version.

so could i just rename by htm files to html?

thanks heapsI don't know the reasons but yes you can just change the file extension between the two just make sure that if you do you remember to change any links to the pages!!htm was because of the old DOS filename format, which had 8 characters for the name followed by 3 characters for the extension.

since windows 95, however, PC's can handle so called "long filenames", and recognise the html extension.HTML is the original, it stands for HyperText Markup Language.

It's because of DOS and elderly Windows that we got the three letter suffix HTM. Thoses OSs can't handle more than three letters after the dot. (MYDOGSPO.JPG)

(HTM) is just there for backwards compatibility.
(HTML) is the original

from what i've been tolg htm is the older version. You could say "HTM supports older versions of operatings systems"excellent
thought so

thanks ppls
