How to save an XHTML file?

I have a very basic doubt.I have see many examples of XHTML files on the web. But i am not sure asof how to save an XHTML file. I mean do we have to save it something likesample.xhtml. I think inorder to convet an XHTML file to HTML we need tojust open it in an browser and we get to see the HTML version of it. Am Iright?Thanks in advance
