Actually, I already have a site which is already like 2 years and it's .com
My plan is to rank it much higher in a specific country (e.g au, ca, nz, etc.) any ideas?
Well I already have an idea but do you think this will work? I plan to buy a domain with .ca and host it under a canadian web hosting company and write blog posts with a link pointing to my .com site - will this work? will it bring good rankings to my .com site in google canada?
Will these strategies bring good rankings to my site too:
1. submitting articles to canadian article directories?
2. forum posts on canadian sites?
any other ideas? I would associate the .ca site with Canada in your Google webmaster tools

It is good way to get high rank on Canadian search engine according to me. If you are trying to get good in specific country. Submit your site in the specific country directories and categories And try to get the back links from the relevant country sites. You site will get good Alexa ranking and good local ranking. If you want to rank higher in local searches of your targeted countries then having a sub domain on a localized server (local to your target country) should be hired and then it should be linked to your homepage.
