How to make this skin work with 3.8?

There is an amazing free skin here available:

It is for 3.7.x. I upload it and ignore style version, and loads fine on 3.8.1. However, when i go to post a reply it only says "vBulletin Message", yet to post a new topic works perfectly.

Can anyone help figure out why?

some good upgrading should do the trick... or ask someone politely to port it to 3.8.1 for you if your unable to do so yourself.
