My blog server was down for around 6 hours yesterday and my pages' ranking significantly decreased.. How to make it back? They will come back up, dont worry. If the search engines ranked your pages good before the server went down, they should go back to their natural ranking.
But if your not happy with that answer, then I suggest you build more deep links. Links to your inner pages will help the search engines find them again.
And to be honest, 6 hours is not much of a down time. If you lost rankings after only 6 hours, you might want to do something to improve that. Domain age and number of backlinks will probably help you keep your ranking when the server goes down. I had a similar problem with my CMS changing url when they moved onto a new system. I had a few sites ranked on first page pre the system change and post the system change they were re-indexed to the second + pages
.
How does a sites content go from being good with one URL stream and then get ranked lower post system change. Thanks for your advice.. I wish they could come back sooner.. 5 Ways to Kill Your Search Rankings & Their Solutions
After a server being down, the first thing i would do when it's back up is submit my sitemap again and add some fresh content on the site as fast as possible to get bots back to loving the site again. (Even submit that one fresh article to some social sites) Don't worry about the rankings that fell, they will come back again in a few days or even less then that. The main thing is... your site is up and make sure it always stays up.
