how to make an alphasearch menu

well actually I'm xD still working at some script i'm making :3 but well there are so many things to learn xD so basically i got a question now...when you click here http://www.vbteam.info/members/list/
you see a menu like A B C D E F G

xD no here goes my question how do I make a menu like that for a custom page xD I know theres an article at vb.org and i have already tried but it didn't work at all...so any suggestion?

I have installed a little mod that generates a "catalog" from a particular(s) forum(s) and have that Alphabetic menu. I don't know if you're interested.
