Hey guys
I was working on a CSS tutorial on how to make a very simple layout using Valid XHTML 1.0 Strict and Pure CSS. Wondering what you guys though of it:
Part 1:
<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.subsilvernet.com/more.php?id=16_0_1_0">http://www.subsilvernet.com/more.php?id=16_0_1_0</a><!-- m -->
Part 2:
<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.subsilvernet.com/more.php?id=23_0_1_0">http://www.subsilvernet.com/more.php?id=23_0_1_0</a><!-- m -->
So what do you think?happen to look at that page in a browser lately?Yes....I know. Let me guess...a good browser? Unfortuanetaly for some extreamly weird reason, they (those damn tab things) seem to float above everything else except in IE...shuddersI had a burst of insight and finally fixed the tabs. I accedentally for some weird reason had too small of a height--lol...20px...more like 200px...lolstill looks awful...uh...could you send me a screenshot. To me it looks fine. What browser are you using. I've tested it in mozzilla, firefox, and ie...im guna do netscape and opera later thoughFirefox .8no. I fixed it...thats too weird!
I fixed it like 2 hours ago! It was doing that, and then stopped. It looks fine in my firefox!Did you refresh the page, Sam?cleared the cache?Shouldn't need to clear the cache. The CSS file needs to be reloaded, that's all.I refreshed serveral times and it didn't change, but I just cleared the cache and that fixed it...Very interesting...Originally posted by pyro
Very interesting... Yes, for some reason, Firefox seems to cache CSS files once in a while... I've noticed this on a couple of sites, including yours, Ryan. When you made thsoe changes a while back (with the BB glow, and such), I needed to clear my cache and everything to be able to see the changes...Yes, it does cache the .css file, but hitting refresh should have caused it to reload, I'd think.Originally posted by pyro

Isn't that the whole point of external CSS files? You only Download 'em once?

Heh, I remember that. Everyone was talking about the new Forum buttons, and I was very confused, as I was still seeing the old ones. Then I did a forced refresh (Ctrl+F5) and got the new images.Lol. This is an interesting off topic disscussion -- But I'm going to add this to the reasons (<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.subsilvernet.com/accessibility/index.php#reasons">http://www.subsilvernet.com/accessibili ... hp#reasons</a><!-- m -->) you should use accessibility that I'm compiling. Please, go ahead and keep being off topic =P
oooo -- Lol
I just got an idea -- We should have just a topic where you can post and debate reasons for using web standards.
PS: So does anyone like my tutorials?On Zach's Page
object {
font-color: red;
font-weight:bold;
font-family:"Times New Roman", Verdana;
}
Is it me or should it be "color: red"? You also have a typo on your link to Ryan's blog article.
Also just to do a bit of a review here, i think it would be better if the login details "login...etc" had a big of good old left padding as pushed up to the border is really that great.
Best Wishes,
DavidAlso maybe you could slip in a little point that #FFFFFF is also #FFF and #FF9900 is also #F90..thanks guys...ill do that!moved to proper place Originally posted by zachzach
