I've been reading a lot of SEO articles lately, and am in the process of overhauling my site for SEO purposes. I want to rank higher for my primary keyphrase. I'm trying to do a great job, but am feeling torn between two things...
I'm torn between missing a good opportunity to improve my site's SEO, and doing so much SEO that my site seems spammy.
I'm focusing mainly on on-page factors that the end user doesn't see, since I like the way the copy reads for the visitor right now and it has been converting very well.
Can you please tell me if you think the following things are a good idea, a bad idea, or use in moderation?
1. Stuffing keywords into CSS class and ids
2. Stuffing keywords in image file names (do you have to let Google index your images?)
3. Using a Keywords section in the <Head>
4. Changing the filename of the site icon to
