How long is it....

When a page in a site is sandboxed because of being new, does that mean the page does not show up at all in the serps or just not on the first few pages. Reason being I have a site that I have been watching for about four months now. It's hovering around the mid 400's. Compared to the site that ranks number 3 in Google, I have more links (all with proper anchor text), no validation errors, and good seo. Yet somehow that site still out ranks me by over 400 spots. So I am wondering if the sandbox did exist, then could a site hovering around the mid 400's for no aparent reason be considered to be sandboxed? it's one solution I guessI actually am not a firm believer of the sandbox and I just think it's a good excuse that seo's can give to their clients when they are not achieving results.I do however believe that aged links are better than new links - so if this was true thats probably why you are ranking so low (if your site is quite new?)Just keep at it. get more links, in corporate more kwyords into your content and keep going. you'll rise over time....A veteran poster at webproworld (forum name CBP) defines the sandbox as follows:--------------------------------The main symptom is that it only applies to sites that are new since March this year. Here is the crieria. IMHO, a sandboxed site is: 1) New domain - probably since March or so of this year 2) On page SEO is OK, but not overdone 3) Good number of links, esp with keyword(s) in anchor text 4) Googlebot crawls often 5) Most/many pages are indexed 6) Ranks well for obscure terms 7) Ranks very well for the allins for main keyword (important criteria) 8) Does not rank in top 700 or so for term that its optimized for. 9) Absence of anything that could attract a penalty. Most sites I hove looked at that are sandoxed, are not, they just rank poorly. CBP--------------------CBP is also a DMOZ editor, and seems to me to be quite knowledgeable in terms of Google behavior.I also think that Jess's advice is solid.... keep at it.even if there is such thing as the sandbox just - keeping getting links- keep adding "ORIGINAL" content to your site- make sure your pages dont contain errors or ne thing else that could stop them from being properly indexed.-- Once the above is done- Take a days break- have a good nights sleep- Then go start step one againHow many same anchor text links do you think it would take to bring on a google penalty How many is hard to tell. Also only Google knows if there is such a ban/law.I have a couple of thousands with the same anchor from different doamins...and I am not banned. It took about 5-6 months before my site started getting decent ranking.Be patient ... get links ... add / update frequently.
