How Is vBulletin Able To Know Info About Your Site?

How is vBulletin able to tell if you have a Paid for vBulletin Site or Not?

Is there some sort of backdoor that they can login to your site with or something?

I've always wondered how they were able to know this.

Anyone here know?

Thanks.

If your website is not listed in their License User Database, they know your using (nulled, illigal) vbulletin forum. Most of the time, (if you have open forum) guest, members or visitors can report your website & forum to the © department of vbulletin.

Reports can be made true http://www.vbulletin.com/piracy.php When vbulletin recives a piracy report they check your website, if your website is not listed to their database, they will contact you (to remove the forum software). They also contact your ISP, trying to shutdown your website.

They'll atually try to contact my ISP, My Internet Service Provider such as Cox Cable and Shut down my service or contact my Website Host Provider and try to Shutdown my Hosting Service?

What about the Free Scripts that they offer on their website that your "Suppose" to be a member of in order to get them?

If they're a Free Script does it really matter where it's downloaded from since it's a Free Script to begin with?

I'm wondering if it's worth it or not and how much "Effort" it is for them to actually put in all of the time to try and research everything.

Figuring out the host provider is probably no biggie but to then try and figure out your ISP might be a different story and probably depending on if your Website Host Provider would actually provide to them your IP Info.
